Twitter is a great marketing tool, but there are a couple of mistakes that people commonly make, which holds them back from properly utilizing this great tool. In this article, I hope to deflate some of the common errors people are likely to make when considering using Twitter in their marketing efforts. First of all, it’s important that you realize why Twitter is such a powerful tool. a lot of people simply don’t think it’s worth it. Then you need to avoid the most basic mistakes people make when they DO start using Twitter in their marketing. The simple truth is that there is a right way and a wrong way to get traffic from Twitter.
1. They Don’t Think Twitter Is Really Worth It
If you don’t realize just how popular Twitter is right now, you’ve quite frankly been sleeping under a rock. Twitter might not be the biggest social media, yet, but it is certainly the one which is experiencing the most growth. Failing to take advantage of this surge in popularity is a critical mistake that too many make. If anything this is the perfect time to reassess the way you use social media in general and Twitter in particular in your marketing efforts.

Twitter Traffic Strategies
2. They Think It’s Better To Have 50.000 Followers Than 5.000
Well, this really depends on what kind of traffic you want. If you can get 50.000 or more targeted followers that is really great, but if you have 50.000 non-targeted followers that are of no more use to you than 5.000 targeted followers. In fact, you would be far better of, in my opinion, by having just the 5.000 targeted followers. To start getting targeted followers it’s a good idea to start following people who are active in your niche.
3. They Push Absolute Rubbish To Their People
You can’t expect to get high quality targeted traffic if you continually push bad content to your followers. I’m sure you have also seen all the marketing posts on Twitter that link directly to a sales page or a squeeze page. If you want to get rid of your followers fast, that’s a great way to go about it. What I would suggest, on the other hand, is that you find high quality content (articles, videos, blog posts) and send those to your people. When you’ve built a bit of trust you can start marketing to your followers. However, don’t just send links to your sales page. Create a blog post, an article or a video that will be truly helpful to your followers and send them to that page. You should then make sure that you place a link to your sales page or squeeze page on that content piece.
People hate being marketed to so don’t do it.
I hope this article demolished some of the road blocks you are facing in your considerations. Let’s just do a quick recap. First of all, it would be foolish not try to get your piece of all the Twitter traffic that’s out there. If you don’t I will! Secondly don’t just blindly go about building a huge following. Make some considerations about who you choose to follow. Finally, make sure you do provide quality information to your followers. Doing these simple things right can make or break your Twitter traffic strategy.
